Post Format – Audio

The Audio post format makes it easy for you to add your own audio files or embed audio directly from Spotify, Rdio, or SoundCloud any other audio embeds supported by WordPress. The embedded audio then replaces the post thumbnail on the blog archive and single post detail page.

  1. From the post editing screen select Audio from the Format metabox.
  2. A new Post Format – Audio metabox will appear below the title.
  3. Select Embed from the Audio Embed or Custom Audio metabox.
  4. Enter a url from any of the supported WordPress oembed sources in the Enter URL metabox. You will be given a preview of your custom audio embed.
  5. The rest of the post content is done like a standard WordPress post.
  1. From the post editing screen select Audio from the Format metabox.
  2. A new Post Format – Audio metabox will appear below the title.
  3. Select Custom option from the Audio Embed or Custom Audio drop down.
  4. Input the URL for any file types you have into their respective inputs. If you want to support all browsers with your audio it is recommended that you include each of the 3 file types: .mp3, .ogg, and .wav
  5. The rest of the post content is done like s standard WordPress post.

If you don’t use either of these, the audio post format will fall back to using the post thumbnail.
